“Well, ain’t we a pair, raggedy man!” Ok, so I couldn’t resist using a quote from the movie. This 1985 Scandecor poster release shows Mel Gibson as his alter ego, Mad Max from the film Mad Max, Beyond Thunderdome. The poster, printed in Germany (and sold in the USA) measures about 26 x 39. Even though Gibson was a popular and successful actor in the 80s, he had very few posters to his credit (at least in the USA). As a side note, Tina Turner who played Aunty Entity in the film has a poster release, too.
A cool poster of actor Lee Horsely as his TV alter-ego, Matt Houston. Houston was a millionaire Texas oil man whose hobby was being a private detective. The series ran on ABC from 1982-85. Horsely might also be remembered for starring in the cult movie The Sword and the Sorcerer as Prince Talon.
The poster is a Starmakers pose from 1982. It is catalog number 2133, measures about 20 x 30 as it’s proper title is Lee Horsley in Matt Houston.
Christina is probably best associated with the role of Kelly Bundy, a role she played for 10 years, on the popular series Married With Children. When the series ended in 1987, she went on to create an outstanding career in films, television and stage, winning a Primetime Emmy for her guest appearance in an episode of Friends. She was also nominated for a Tony award for Best Actress in a Musical for her 2005 performance in Sweet Charity.
This poster (one of several) is from 1987 and is from O.S.P. Publishing.
A poster of the King of Pop from 1983. Released through Bi-Rite and it measures about 23″ x 35″. This isn’t the only pose of Michael on the market from around that same time frame, but it is one of the nicer poses available.
Heather, best known for her work in the 80s TV series The Fall Guy, starring Lee Majors, had several posters on the market in the 80s that showed of her nice form. As you can see from the info provided, this pose is from 1983 and is a Starmakers release.
Actress and singer, Pia, released this poster in 1982 through Zadora Enterprises. It measures roughly 22″ x 34″ and is a pose that doesn’t show up on Ebay that often. Pia, as an actress, is best known for Butterfly (1982) and The Lonely Lady (1983) for which she received back to back RAZZIE Awards as worst actress. While her acting abilities are in question, Pia is really a fairly decent singer especially when she follows Frank Sinatra’s advice to “sing the Standards”. Check out her website to get a sample of her new CD release.
One of the most popular shows of the 1980s was Magnum P.I. starring Tom Selleck in the role of Thomas Sullivan Magnum, a private detective who lived in a guest house on a 200 acre beach front estate (called Robin’s Nest) owned by Robin Masters, a successful author who is never seen on the series, but whose voice had been heard several times (provided by Orson Welles). The series ran on CBS from 1980-1988 and made Selleck into a heart throb and teen idol. He had a variety of poster poses on the market and the poster highlighted in this post is from 1982 and is from C/C Sales.
